standing telepharmacy project in the State of Idaho.

What is Telepharmacy?
Telepharmacy
is where Pharmacists use telecommunications technology
to systematically provide
personalized, electronically documented real-time
professional services to patients at a remote location, including
prescription dispensing and counseling, and to oversee and
supervise remote pharmacy operations.

What
this means for you is that whether or not you are a
patient of the Health Center, you can get your prescriptions
filled locally without having to drive to either McCall
or Weiser. |
Even
though not all medications are stocked locally, we have
on hand the most common "first-prescribed" medications
which will expedite your recovery process.
The Telepharmacy room also has additional
over-the-counter medications and related medical items
for your convenience.

Medication dispensary.
Typical
Telepharmacy Procedure for Filling Prescriptions
Once
the patient/pharmacist consultation has been finished using
a video-conferencing station, the pharmacist remotely sends
an electronic command to the dispensing machine.
The
medication is released from the appropriate row and delivered
to the
Pharmacist Technician. Each prescription in the machine
has a bar code that tells exactly what the medication is
and
how much is dispensed.

Technician scans the barcode on the medication to verify
the prescription against what was prescribed by the Pharmacist.
Even
though patients of the Health Center have special pricing
benefits, anyone in the community can use
this service to fill prescriptions. A portion of the Dispensing
Equipment is allocated to storing medications that are for
the general public.
The Pharmacy will also stock a limited selection
of over-the-counter drug store products at very competitive
prices.
