TELEPHARMACY SERVICES

Typical Procedure for
Filling Prescriptions

The Idaho State Board of Pharmacy unanimously approved Adams County Health Center, Inc. to operate the first free standing telepharmacy project in the State of Idaho. We are partnered with an independent Pharmacy.

In a telepharmacy, pharmacists use telecommunications technology to systematically provide personalized, electronically documented real-time professional services to patients at a remote location. This includes dispensing prescription medication and couseling as well as overseeing and supervising remote pharmacy operations.

Although not all medications are stocked locally, we have on-hand the most common "first prescribed" medications.

Whether or not you are a patient of the Health Center, you can get your prescriptions filled locally without having to drive to McCall or Weiser.

TELEPHARMACY HOURS:

Mon-Fri: 9 am - 6 pm
Tues: 9 am - 5:30 pm
Closed Saturday & Sunday

Closed for Lunch: 1 pm - 2 pm

Phone: 253-4957

We also stock a variety of over-the-counter items that you might expect to find in a corner drugstore. And if we don't have it, we can generally order it and have it delivered here.

Please stop in and check out our selection and low prices.

Typical Telepharmacy Procedure for Filling Prescriptions

A video-conferencing station is available for a pharmacist-to-patient consultation. The pharmacist sends an electronic command to the automated Telelpharmacy Medication Dispensary (at right).

The appropriate medication is then released to our Pharmacist Technician. Each prescription in the machine has a bar code that tells exactly what the medication is and how much is dispensed.

The Technician scans the barcode on the medication to verify the prescription against what was prescribed by the Pharmacist.

Even though patients of the Health Center have special pricing benefits, anyone in the community can use this service to fill prescriptions.

A portion of the Dispensing Equipment is allocated to storing medications that are for the general public.
